Wind farm projects
TM Voima Oy is engaged in the development of many wind farms in Northern Ostrobothnia. For these projects we have established local project companies.
In 2012–2014, TM Voima licensed approximately 80 MW of wind power. Investments in these projects totaled approximately 130M euros.
- Kytölä wind farm 6 x 3.3 MW
- Pajukoski wind farm 9 x 3.3 MW
- Saarenkylä wind farm 9 x 3.3 MW
Under construction
Haapavesi Rahkola
TM Voima Oy has made preliminary studies on a wind power project in the Rahkola area of the town of Haapavesi. In the preliminary layout plan, possible places for four wind turbines have been proposed.
The nominal power for the planned wind turbines is approximately 5-7 MW. The hub height is up to 160 meters with rotor diameter up to 140 - 180 meters. The total height of these wind turbines is 230 meters maximum. Grid connection from the Rahkola wind farm will be done via underground power cable, and thus overhead lines will not be built there.

Ylivieska Hirvineva
TM Voima has made preliminary studies concerning the suitability of the Hirvikangas area for wind power production. The area is situated five kilometers north of Ylivieska Säilynperä. In the preliminary studies, sites of natural, cultural and historical interest close to the area, as well as the location and use of existing real estate, have been examined. The number of the turbines will be decided during development phase. Lease agreements have been made, and the preliminary project idea has been presented to the town of Ylivieska. In developing the project area, the aim is to increase the distance to the land of surrounding neighbors so that the effects caused by the wind power would be smaller. According to TM Voima’s studies, the wind levels in Kalajokilaakso are good for developing wind power. In the next stage, the project will be presented to the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, and wind measurements will begin.

Ylivieska Pajukoski II
TM Voima Oy is planning to expand the wind farm in the Pajukoski area in the town of Ylivieska. A maximum of 18 new wind turbines are planned to be built in the project area. The nominal power of the planned wind turbines is 5–7 MW. The hub height is up to 160 meters with rotor diameter up to 140-180 meters. The total height of the wind turbines is 230-300 meters maximum.
The Pajukoski II wind park covers close to a 2000 hectare area, which is located six kilometers south of the center of Ylivieska and six kilometers northeast of the center of Sievi. The wind park is situated on lands owned by the parish of Ylivieska and private landowners. The environmental assessment process regarding the impacts of this project has been started.

Ylivieska Tuomiperä
TM Voima Oy is planning a wind park with up to eight wind turbines in the Tuomiperä area. The total height of the planned wind turbines will be 240 meters maximum, and their towers will be solid (steel cylinders or hybrid towers). The wind turbines’ capacity will be 5–7 MW and their rotor diameter will be 150-180 meters. The wind turbines will be connected to the electricity grid with 20–36 kV underground power cables and overhead lines will not be built for this purpose.
The partial disposition plan for the project has been approved by the local government and the local council of Ylivieska. Complaints have been filed about the partial disposition plan.

Nivala Kukonaho
TM Voima Oy is planning a wind farm with up to 7-9 wind turbines in the Kukonaho area. The total height of the planned wind turbines will be 210 meters maximum, and their towers will be solid (steel cylinders or hybrid towers). The wind turbines will be connected to the electric grid with 20–35 kV underground power cables and overhead lines will not be built for this purpose.
The partial disposition plan for the project has been approved by the local government and the local council of Nivala. A complaint has been filed about the partial disposition plan.

Alavieska Tolosperä
TM Voima is studying if the Tolosperä area in the municipality of Alavieska is suited for wind power production. In the preliminary studies, sites of natural, cultural and historical interest close to the area, as well as the location and use of existing real estate, have been examined. The area is situated close to the border of the Alavieska and Merijärvi municipalities. A maximum of six wind turbines are being planned for the area. Some lease agreements have been made and the preliminary project idea has been presented to the municipality of Alavieska. TM Voima has measured wind levels in Alavieska since 2012, and according to these measurements, the wind levels are good for wind power production. For the project area, the most suitable are class-3 wind turbines, which are designed for up to 7.5 m/s (17 mph) average wind speed. TM Voima has asked the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment if an environmental impact assessment is needed.
